Staying in the Goully House is a wonderful experience, with families, friends, or for a romantic, cozy French country experience. This fully furnished and equipped house is over 150 years old, originally built as a Tavern on the Loire river front. Pouilly sur Loire is a lively town and 'vignoble' with wineries at a crossroads between central France and Burgundy. You'll thoroughly enjoy the comfort of this country home, the walkout gardens, the riverfront walks, and biking in the neighborhood or on the bike paths along the river natural reserves. Canoes and kayaks are available for day rentals--with pick up and drop off. There are over 10 Pouilly wineries, a Friday farmer's market, as well as incredible bakeries in a 15 minute walk from the house.
Larger towns with supermarkets and cinemas are 15 minute drives North or South on A77, including Cosne-sur-Loire and the beautiful medieval town--La Charite sur Loire. In addition to the standard furnishing, the house has bikes for all sizes, barbeques, garden furniture, and wireless internet. It is a two level house, with upstairs and downstairs entrances. Both upstairs and downstairs enjoy walkout gardens with traditional stone wall enclosures and beautiful trees and flowers. Both upstairs and down have street access and parking as the house is on the corner.
If you are ready for driving visits, Sancerre, Bourges, Vezelay and Nevers are all great day visits--with wine tasting, cathedrals or basilicas, walking malls, and more. During the summer, another great day visit is to the medieval castle reconstruction site--Guedelon-- followed by Saint Fargeau's castle and nightly historical sound and light show. In the summer there are outdoor festivals, markets, fairs, and art exhibits all around the area--which are well documented with signage, at the tourism office, and in the local paper. A bit further long day trips or overnight trips can be made to Paris, the Chateau de Chenonceau, Les Hospices de Beaune and more. For more ideas and images, you can visit our website. The Paris airports are both accessible in two hours by train or car.
The house is fully equipped with everything from outdoor dining furniture to wine glasses, TVs to salt & pepper shakers. Come with your family or friends and enjoy French country living and culture.
